2018-19 Reflections Program Kicks Off    Monday, August 27.

All PCR students are invited to submit their original artwork for this year’s Reflections art recognition program.  This year’s program theme is “Heroes Around Me.” Since 1969, Reflections has encouraged students of all ages to unleash creative talent, express themselves imaginatively in their artwork, tap into critical-thinking skills to create art inspired by the annual theme, and to be inspired.

Welcome to the 2018-19 school year! I hope you were all able to enjoy some rest and relaxation this summer with friends and family. The first day of school this year is Thursday, August 16th. We look forward to welcoming our new families as well as all of our returning families to what promises to be an exciting new school year.

New Staff Members

We begin the new year with goodbyes to Wendy Senour, who quietly retired after serving over 28 years in La Canada and Coach Rizzo, who accepted a teaching position in another district.  In addition, Mrs. Esquivel will be working with preschool students at PCY and Mrs. Valderhaug will join the 7/8 Resource team. We have also seen an increase in enrollment over the summer which means we will be adding an additional afternoon kindergarten class, 5th grade class, and 3rd grade class. Mrs. Lara Berdahl, who previously taught 3rd grade at PCR, will move from 4th grade to join the 3rd grade team this year.

Summer has ended and iRead, PCR's famous summer reading program, officially ends tonight, Wednesday August 15, 2018 at 11:59PM-PDT. You can submit your children's iRead summer reading minutes in one of two ways:

School officially starts tomorrow at 8:10am, except for P.M. Kindergarten, which starts at 11:20am. Early-bird/late-bird assignments for grades 1 through 3 will not be made until the end of the second week of school so all students will start school at 8:10am until the Early-bird / Late-bird schedule begins on Tuesday, September 4th. You may drop off your child as early as 7:45AM, but no earlier. The playground opens at 7:55AM, and children report to class at 8:05AM. The daily Bell Schedule can be found on the Palm Crest PTA website.
