At it’s May 1st meeting, the LA County Committee on School District Organization is expected to address the Sagebrush Petition to move the school district border. Sagebrush makes up 10% of the City of La Canada Flintridge and UniteLCF! has been working hard to secure the right for kids in that area to attend La Cañada Schools. The permit process has allowed students from Sagebrush to attend LCUSD schools but that is not a permanent right. GUSD could reverse course on its release policy and either ask kids to get a release every year or not allow any new releases. Currently 215 Sagebrush students attend LCUSD schools, of which 101 attend Palm Crest Elementary. We currently make up nearly 5% of LCUSD’s enrollment. According to GUSD, there are only 189 students left at GUSD’s three local schools.
