Dear LCUSD Community,
I hope this email finds parents, teachers, staff, students, and community friends managing during these extremely challenging days, following healthy guidelines and practices, and recognizing the strength and power of our LCUSD Community in contributing to the greater good through our efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19. I am so grateful to each one of you for the sacrifices you are making to keep our Community healthy and our relationships supportive and connected.
I, along with the Governing Board and Administrative Cabinet, invite you to view our Governing Board meeting tomorrow night at 7pm. You can watch on our YouTube Channel. The livestream will begin at 7pm and will be recorded if you are unable to join.
As this will be a brand new experience for us, we ask for your patience and flexibility as we have our first ever fully remote Board Meeting.
Also new for this meeting, our format for taking public comment on agendized and non-agendized items will be electronic. Public comments will be accepted beginning at 4:30pm on the day of the Board Meeting:
Please keep in mind, reasonable “time, place, and manner” restrictions will apply for public comments and based on the number submitted, we may not be able to read all of them at the meeting. All comments will be read by the Governing Board and Staff after the meeting if we do implement time limits due to the volume of comments.
Be well and thank you for all you do.
Dear PCR Panthers,
We're about to head into Week 3 of distance learning. I hope you have gotten into your new routine and that you and the kids are surviving the 24/7 togetherness.
I know that during this time of physical distancing, it's tough to keep up with all the information that is coming from the District, Principal Pak, teachers and all other outside news sources. We will continue to help by streamlining all the information that is received through the week and have the latest in our newsletter.
Believe it or not, the PTA is still hard at work:
* Don't miss out on the opportunity to order a keepsake with your child's artwork. You can order your Original Artworks (www.originalworks.com) through Friday, April 3rd. Delivery will be made to PCR and we will hold onto the items until school is back in session. If you have any questions or have not received your child's code, please contact Julie Kaufield at firstname.lastname@example.org.
* Our yearbook chair, Lidia Camoosa (email@example.com) is putting the finishing touches on the 2019-2020 yearbook. If you haven't ordered your child's yearbook, make sure to do so by Sunday, April 5th. You will need to login to www.palmcrestpta.org and place your order via the One-Click-Order Form.
* We are planning for the 2020-2021 school year. While our 2020-2021 Executive Board slate is set, we still have committee chair positions available. If you are interested in getting involved please contact DeDe Cook, firstname.lastname@example.org.
* We are also working on going through and donating everything that was left in the Lost & Found prior to our campus closing.
I'm sure you've been inundated with numerous links and resources but wanted to share a site that I stumbled upon, The Cheese Chat. They have put together a comprehensive list of entertainment for the whole family, museums, live webcams, adult learning, kid’s learning, fitness & health, service providers & much more! https://www.thecheesechat.com/noncheese/coronavirusfreebies
I would like to give our school district, administrators, teachers, and classified staff a HUGE THANK YOU! They were asked to completely redesign what schooling looks like within 48 hours. The Governing Board closed our schools on Friday, March 13th and our children were distance learning on Monday, March 16th. That is amazing! Please remember that this is new territory for all of us, so let's be extra kind, extra understanding and extra grateful.
For a bit of good news, I am part of the La Canada - La Crescenta Chinese American Club and we have been able to donate 16,000 masks to our local hospitals (VHH, Keck Medical Center, Huntington Hospital, Kaiser Pasadena to name a few). The club's focus is to help our community, especially the elderly. If you know of any seniors in need of masks or assistance with getting items, please reach out to email@example.com.
In the meantime, stay safe and healthy, and I look forward to seeing you all on campus again sometime (hopefully!) soon.
